The Power of Choice
3 men were sentenced to a 3 year jail term and each of them was allowed a wish by the warden. Being an inveterate smoker, the American was given 3 cartons of cigars as requested. In the case of the romantic Frenchman, who asked for the companionship of a beautiful woman, he also had his wish answered. As for the Jew, what he wanted was a phone through which he could connect himself to the outside world. Upon their release after serving the jail sentence for 3 years, the first to rush out of the jail was the American, who was shouting at the top of his voice: "Fire, fire. Give me fire, please!" He had forgotten to ask for a lighter.
The next was the Frenchman. He walked out of the jail with a little boy in his arm. Beside him was his beautiful companion, who was carrying a girl and was pregnant with their 3rd child. The last guy to emerge was the Jew, who immediate held the hands of the warden and said: "As I have been able to keep contact with the outside world, my business has been going on smoothly. In fact, it has achieved a 200% growth! In appreciation of your help, I hereby reward you with a Rolls-Royce!"
The moral behind this anecdote is: Whatsoever we choose to sow, so shall we reap. Our life of today is determined by the choice we made 3 years ago, and our choice of today shall decide our life 3 years from now.
What is your immediate choice, then?
Frederick Marryat once said: "You never know what you can do till you try."
